Mobile Production

Mobile Production Comes to Nevada County

Providing mobile live production has always been a priority. It just took us a while to include it responsibly. With the departure of the independent company in 2019 who was doing most of this, it left a hole in our community. To easily step into those shoes required several items to fall into place.

Nevada County Media has received a generous donation of a vehicle from the Nevada County Library and County of Nevada, which will allow us to begin to provide this service once again to our community. Partnerships with the Chambers, Cities, and the County will put the NCM team out at many events.

The NCM mobile studio is a high definition set-up that allows for high definition multi-camera recording, live editing, streaming/broadcasting, and more. The solutions used in this vehicle are the 5th installation of production equipment that we have done in the county. This upgrade adventure began in 2017 and this mobile vehicle has been in the plan since day one. NCM uses the same configuration of gear in all of the locations it manages. The County, Grass Valley, Nevada City, the NCM studio, and now the mobile studio all use the Telestream Wirecast system and a variety of AJA hardware. Both AJA and Telestream are local manufacturers, and it is important that we support them.

NCM utilizes PEG (public access community tv) funding for the purchase of hardware, however the gas, insurance, maintenance, and staffing are on us. NCM has a “Support Our Truck” campaign that will help raise funds to wrap the vehicle, as well as the additional support needed.  The wrap will represent the community and provide a place for sponsor names. We want the community to be happy when they see us rolling up and feel good about supporting what NCM is doing. Media is an important component of a community.

Nevada County Media is a 501c3 nonprofit that has been in operation in Nevada County for over 25 years. Information about the “Support our Truck” campaign, as well as the programs and services can be found at www.nevadacountymedia.org
